This is the first piece by 'Polymitas', the collaborative duo of Martha Jurksaitis (image) and Kathy Alberici (sound). We travelled to France together and spent a week having long conversations about ideas, recording sounds, filming on Super 8, and having adventures. We weren't sure when we decided to spend this week together if anything would result, but it turns out we make a good duo :) The film is entirely hand-processed by me at the Cherry Kino studio. Telecine is by 'ocho y pico' in Madrid. The first draft of editing was done by hand with a splicer, and the final edits were made using Premiere Pro.

Since creating this piece, Polymitas have been commissioned by CTM Festival in Berlin to create an audio-visual portrait of the Funkhaus, the former GDR's radio broadcasting station, a vast sprawling complex of buildings in various states of disrepair with some pristine examples of East German luxe. The performance will take place on 1st February 2014, at HAU1 in Berlin. We hope to see you there!
